To be perfectly honest this is a manufacturer’s claim and we haven’t been caught in any downpours as yet, however the light rain we have encountered during our test period, the Explorer 4’s have definitely stood up to the test keeping our tootsie’s bone dry.
There is a thermoplastic polyurethane shift pad protector, which is specifically designed to stop additional wear on the boot whilst shifting gears over and over again throughout the life of the boot which is a well thought out touch. The rear reflex reflective insert on the back of the ankle aids low light visibility, making you more visible on the road. and again, is a nice safety feature.
Reinforcements on the ankle, shin, toe and heel add to the safety without reducing comfort. We have found these to be one of the most comfortable road boots we have worn, with the fact there has been no compromise on safety features it is very reassuring whilst on the bike.
TCX Explorer 4 Gore-Tex Road Touring BootsFastening is nice and simple with an elasticated zip with wide hook and loop band allows for easy closure and adjustability to suit your personal comfort level, it also allows the boot to be easily removed after a long days riding.
Inside the boot is comfortable whether riding or walking around. Featuring an Ortholite footbed provides long term cushioning while maintaining breathability throughout your ride. The highly wear-resistant rubber sole features differentiated grip areas which offer superior stability and good grip on the foot pegs.
