Royal Enfield goes big with Super Meteor 650

Royal Enfield has jumped into the mid-capacity cruiser market, boots and all, with the launch of the Super Meteor 650 at the EICMA international motorcycle show. It’s powered by the same 648cc Twin platform found in the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.

To be rolled out across the region via a phased approach next year, the Super Meteor 650 combines uncluttered controls and instrumentation with relaxed rider ergonomics, rock-steady stability on the highway and spine-tingling pleasure on winding roads.

Its flexible, silky-smooth engine has torque aplenty and its cool retro styling is infused with clearly recognisable Royal Enfield DNA.

“Even at the start of the development journey of the 650 parallel twin platform we were clear about our intentions of designing and building a true-blue highway cruiser. It’s been a while in the making but we are very glad that it is finally here,” Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan said.

The Super Meteor has a history of its own that dates all the way back to the 1950s and the US-export versions of the original Redditch cruiser of the same name. Paired with the finesse, quality and rideability of the Meteor 350, the new version will reset the benchmark.

The Super Meteor 650 will be available in two distinct variants, with the first taking the bike’s name and is represented with a solo cruiser look and feel. It will be available in Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green and Interstellar Grey.

The Super Meteor 650 Tourer is a grander version and will come in Celestial Red and Celestial Blue. Local pricing and an official launch date for Australia and New Zealand are yet to be announced. For further information, contact your local Royal Enfield dealer.
